Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.
(Psalm 119:34 ESV)
I found myself facing two choices. Wanting to trust God through both. A web of great confusion and doubt. Either one will certainly deliver a harsh sting. I want to avoid the pain but can’t. It’s inevitable. I think I know what to do, but I don’t. I want to do what is right, but I don’t know what that is. I haven’t been able to discern God’s will for this. Up late at night with lights out. Hoping to hear something on the music station that will enlighten my heart.
Confusion is of the enemy to thwart God’s plans!
Plan A – is staying the course. It’s developing into an unforeseen and beautiful experience. They are treasured moments. But I also know that there aren’t any promises. In fact, the idea of a commitment was completely obliterated. Knowing this delivered the anticipation of doom. Sooner or later there’s a fear that will come to fruition. It’s the nature of things. Am I to endure the painstaking process of wondering when? How will my heart recover?
Plan B – is letting it go. Don’t hold onto the unforeseen beautiful experience. The treasured moments. Doubting God to do what He said He would. I’m spared from anticipating doomsday. But I’ll still endure the painstaking process of letting it go.
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
(Proverbs 12:25 ESV)
Planning about something important can weigh you down. You hope to hear from God telling you what to do but nothing. Therefore, you find yourself fretting how to proceed. No doubt, if He just said one word then you feel secure with the assurance of His will and blessing.
You believe something in faith but then all these doubts seem to overpower it. The absence of doubt makes it completely easy to trust God. There’s no opposition. No anxiety. No fears. No concerns. No questions. No blind spots. But is this a true representation of our lives? All my life I have experienced doubts. If it wasn’t this, then it was that. Doubts. Doubts. Doubts.
The Law of sin and death!
You wait for direction but no path in sight. We think it is our innate desire to know what to do. To have control over situations we encounter. When things don’t make sense, we attempt to manage the situation to yield the desired results. But we fail time after time. The “good word” we need to hear isn’t the “Good Word” we are longing for. Instead it’s doubt, which is of the enemy who comes to kill, steal, and destroy everything!
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but instead Spiritual!
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
(Psalm 118:8 ESV)
When we trust ourselves to manage things independent from God, we fail. We’re powerless in our own might. Our strength can only come from the Holy Spirit. Our flesh is always in conflict with the Holy Spirit. Every time we come to a crossroad; our flesh will tell us what it should do. Those thoughts will always look for the easy way out. It will make you think that God’s choice will hurt you but if given in to your flesh, you won’t suffer as much, if at all.
When we trust in the Lord, we can live more abundantly. We experience less struggles. Our will is aligned with God’s will. Abiding in God’s Word is the only way to live the life Jesus died to give us. This completely counters everything our flesh wants us to believe. Our instincts will fool us into believing “You’ve got this!” We can never trust our feelings. We must always trust the Word of God. It never returns void!
We must die to self!
But in order to trust in our Lord and Savior, we must decrease so He may increase. We can’t be filled with junk as the Holiness of God desires to dwell in us. We must let go and let God. We must die to self. We must empty ourselves from all the things that plague us, keeping us stagnant, unable to move forward.
Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
(Psalm 62:8 ESV)
All Times. Two words. Seems doable. Right? But it isn’t. In fact, trusting in all times doesn’t seem possible. But God calls us to do just that. To trust in Him at “ALL Times.” That means in “ALL Things.” All means All. Everything. Not some things. Not a few things. But ALL times. ALL things. We can’t pick and choose what we want to trust Him with.
He is for us and not against us!
We must trust that God is more than enough. More than able. Trust that the Holy Spirit will care for us. For ALL our needs. We only need to wait expectantly for Him to do what’s needed. He’s the only One Who can be trusted for ALL things. One Word from Him changes things on His Authority. The Bible teaches us to Trust only God. Not man. Not ourselves. We will fail others and ourselves. But God will never fail us.
There aren’t timelines that determines how long a storm will be weathered. Some may last days. Some may last weeks. Others will last months. And then there are some that last years. May we always remember as the storm rages, it should never separate us from God’s love and all He desires to do for us! He was, is, and will forever be our refuge. There isn’t anything He does not want to help us with. Nothing is too big or too small.
And he said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” And he went up and looked and said, “There is nothing.” And he said, “Go again,” seven times. And at the seventh time he said, “Behold, a little cloud like a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” And he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.”
(1 Kings 18:43-44 ESV)
Drought brings forth famine. In our lives, the absence of what we think is needed to yield the desired results can hinder our ability to move into what God has for us. Storms will come but that doesn’t mean we are without hope. Everything God wants to do for us, in us, and through us requires a process.
How something initially appears doesn’t represent the outcome. The beginning will always look different in the end. There’s a process that takes place in between. God is a God of order. He’s not in the business of doing half a job. He’s excellent in all His ways. Precision is key to His Kingdom. There’s a purpose for everything under the sun. Doesn’t matter if understand it. What matters is that we believe it.
There’s a cloud and it’s about to rain!
We must be intentional to trust in Him alone. In faith, believing He’s working on our behalf. He’s working to fulfill His promises. He’s working to give us the desires of our hearts when our hearts are aligned with His. Dry seasons does not mean there isn’t going to be a harvest. Celebrate the process. Within it you’ll experience the pain. The suffering. The growth. The Victory!!!! Embrace the absolute truth that what God blesses, the enemy can’t curse!!!!
You freely give what we don’t deserve!
When God answers a desire of your heart, a long awaited answer, He’s faithful to deliver! His promises are YES and AMEN! Don’t think for a moment that in your state of confusion and doubt that resulted in choosing the wrong path was a surprise to your Creator. He designed you before you were born. He already knew every choice you will make till the day you come face to face with Him. His love for us is immeasurable! So when you come to Him with a humble heart, desiring something that only He can give, and if He answered yes, trust Him regardless of your short comings! And if He answered no, trust Him that He has something better for you! So you better start running because it’s about to rain blessings over you!
Are you trusting God in ALL things?
Dear Lord Jesus, forgive us for not coming to You in ALL things at ALL times! Forgive us Lord for wanting to manage things independent from You. Thank You for always wanting to be our gracious Father who delights in our healing. Who delights in providing. Who delights in giving us the desires of our hearts when we abide in You. Lord Jesus, You take what the enemy meant for evil and You turn it for good. You are always for us and not against us. Help us stay focused on You. Help us see that Your presence will always be our weapon against the enemy. You are our VICTORY!!! You are my love forever!!! I will trust in You alone!!! I thank You for what You’ve been to us!
It is in Your Son’s Name Jesus Christ we pray. Song: You Alone
Amen. Do It Again
God bless you and yours.
I love you.
In His grip,
